Recently I upgraded to Workbench 6.0 and everything was working fine until I tried to log into an old database server that I manage. The interface kept returning the following error:
Connection using old (pre-4.1.1) authentication protocol refused (client option ‘secure_auth’ enabled)
This seems to be a result of the OLD_PASSWORD functionality being dropped from the Workbench application and probably would have been fixed if I re-hashed my password using the new method but, since I did not want to mess with my password on the database side I found that I could add the following into the Others field in the Advanced tap with setting up the Workbench connection:
useLegacyAuth=1
